Chumash Heritage National Marine Sanctuary

Protecting the Heritage of the Central Coast

The Chumash Heritage National Marine Sanctuary is an initiative by the Northern Chumash Tribal Council. The biodiverse marine life that call this area home deserve a healthy ocean. The proposal has garnered the support from both NOAA and the Biden Administration which are both advancing the nomination of the Chumash Sanctuary. This is a major step toward elevating Indigenous perspectives and cultural values in ocean conservation and is the first Tribally nominated sanctuary. Mirthquake believes this important initiative deserves to be brought into fruition. We invite you to support this worthy cause.
